The Sandra Lemmer Collection

Many of the products from the 50s, 60s and 70s showcased on the Brand Museum were acquired from Sandra Lemmer of Turksvy Trading Store in Rosendal, Freestate.  Here is a brief autobiography and glimps of how the “Mr Miller” collection came to light.

“Once a plattelander, always a plattelander. After spending 20 years idealizing the corporate ladder and city life, it was time to head out to the medicinal silence of the Eastern FreeState.

Here I felt encouraged by the open plains and surrounding mountains, the absolute freedom and beauty of it all, I lived out my dream and the antique shop, Turksvy Trading, was established.

Finding antiques is hard work, which has led me searching, across borders into the deepest corners of Lesotho. A rare find was inevitable, dust covered, behind locks and bolts, Mr. Millers’ typical 1960s trading store lay in wait.
